Vehicles in German Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Confirm

Police stated they were notified by a man who discovered a car in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Roughly fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.

Police report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.

The substance had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Officers then located many other marked cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials say initial examinations show the substance was most likely human blood.

"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; officials are presently not informed of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they commented.

City officials stated they were working "to unravel the case" and have requested to the public for tips.

A high-ranking official stated the vandalism left him stunned and had to be solved promptly.

"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on social media, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a assailant focusing on residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
